Exploring Smart Sensor Technologies for Bruxism Detection
At Bite Guard, our mission is to innovate reliable and comfortable solutions for people who suffer from bruxism (teeth grinding).

As part of our continuous research efforts, our team has recently reviewed several academic studies on self-powered bite force sensors — a new generation of smart materials that can measure jaw pressure and transmit data wirelessly without the need for batteries.
One notable study, published by Elsevier in 2025, presents a mouthguard-type self-powered sensor designed to detect bite force with high precision and wide dynamic range.
This innovation aligns closely with our R&D vision — integrating intelligent sensing technology into a night guard to monitor bruxism events and improve oral health outcomes.
Our development team is currently analyzing similar sensor architectures and exploring practical ways to adapt these concepts into our upcoming MVP prototype.
